CHRONIC VENOUS INSUFFICIENCY (CVI)
The Cleveland Clinic estimates that 40 percent of people in the United States have CVI. It occurs more frequently in people over age 50, and more often in women than in men.
WHAT ARE VARICOSE VEINS?
Varicose veins are enlarged, twisted veins that usually appear on the legs. They occur when the valves in the veins become weak or damaged, causing blood to pool and the veins to swell. Varicose veins can be blue, purple, or flesh-colored, and they may be accompanied by symptoms such as pain, heaviness, swelling, or cramping in the legs. While varicose veins are often a cosmetic concern, they can also cause discomfort and lead to more serious complications such as ulcers or blood clots. Treatment options for varicose veins range from lifestyle changes and compression stockings to minimally invasive procedures or surgery, depending on the severity of the condition.
THE PROGRESSION OF VENOUS DISEASE
Chronic Venous Insufficiency is a progressive condition that can cause severe impacts.
Timely treatment effectively halts the progression.

What is Chronic Venous Insufficiency?
Healthy leg veins are designed to allow blood to flow against gravity from the legs back toward the heart. Tiny valves inside the veins open and close to help control the flow and pressure. CVI is a progressive disease of the valves in the veins of the leg. These valves regulate blood flow back to the heart. When they are diseased blood pools in the legs causing pain, swelling, fatigue, and restless legs.
When the veins become weakened or diseased, vein valves no longer promote efficient blood flow and blood pools in the legs.
CVI occurs when stresses on the venous system – like pregnancy, age or standing for long periods of time weaken the vein structure and the valves break down.
This impaired blood flow (or reflux) causes veins to expand, lose form and protrude from beneath the skin. This causes varicose veins, swelling, and the symptoms described above.

TREATMENTS WE OFFER
ICCVeinCare offers advanced procedures as an alternative to traditional vein stripping in treatment of saphenous vein reflux. Our state-of the-art procedures are in-office, minimally invasive, covered by most insurance and has a short recovery time to get you back on your feet.
VenaSeal™
In-office procedure where a catheter is inserted directly into the diseased vein and injects the VenaSeal® medical adhesive to seal – or close – the diseased vein.
ClosureFast™
A catheter is introduced into the vein and delivers radiofrequency energy to the vein wall, causing it to heat, collapse and seal shut and other healthy veins take over.
